It’s hard to nail down one thing, but here, I’ll give you two. The first one is read more. Someone smart once told me that you can become the best expert in the world on any topic by reading an hour a day on that topic. It’s surprising how few people do that. I would encourage you in any field, including conversion optimization, read an hour a day on the topic and you will, within a year, become an expert in the field. The other is within the organization get in the habit of driving people insane by, every time they have a good idea, saying “You know what? That’s a great idea. We should test that.” Just creating that habit of responding by saying “Great idea. Let’s test that. We should test that. We should test that.” You will start to create and become a champion within the organization of creating that culture of ongoing improvement. That’s really what it’s all about, is having the culture of scientific marketing and testing to see what really works.”
